Pelicans make their draft day moves

New Orleans, La. -

The first NBA draft of the New Orleans Pelicans era delivered an instant surprise, albeit, not an instant shock.

Sources have confirmed the team, which used its sixth pick in the draft to pick Kentucky center Nerlens Noel, traded that pick on to Philadelphia 76ers for guard Jrue Holiday.

The Pelicans also send a first round pick in 2014 to Philly, and will get the 42nd overall pick in the current draft in return. That will be a second-round choice.

Holiday, 23, averaged 17.7 points and eight assists this past season for the Sixers.
