FOX 8 received the following news release from the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff's Office:

The Terrebonne Parish Sheriff's Office is investigating a shooting incident that occurred Saturday afternoon, Sheriff Jerry Larpenter said.

TPSO received a complaint Saturday at approximately 2:30 p.m. in reference to a fight involving approximately 100 subjects on Hwy 316 near the Lucky Mart. Deputies were nearby and responded within one minute. Upon the arrival of the first deputy, multiple rounds of gunfire were heard. As the deputies proceeded to the area in an attempt to locate the source of the gunshots, subjects began to scatter and one subject fell to the ground with an apparent gunshot wound to the buttocks area.

The victim, a 23 year old male from Schriever, was transported to a local hospital where he is expected to undergo surgery and recover from his injury.

Witnesses at the scene indicated that there was a large party at a residence near the intersection of Hwy 316 and West Park Avenue where approximately 100 people were in attendance. Additional information obtained indicated that several subjects joined the party and began an argument with several of the partygoers and several subjects began firing at each other with various weapons.

At this time, TPSO has not received any information concerning any other victims or persons injured.

This investigation is on-going. If anyone has any information concerning this crime, please contact Crimestoppers for a potential reward, or TPSO at 985-876-2500.
