A UNO legend is returning to the Lakefront. Former baseball coach and athletic director Ron Maestri is returning to the dugout to coach the Privateer baseball team in 2014, a source told FOX 8 Sports.
Maestri will replace Bruce Peddie who was relieved of his duties earlier this year.
Maestri put UNO baseball on the map. He coached the Privateers for 14 seasons and compiled a 518-247-1 record during his tenure. His teams made nine NCAA Tournaments and a College World Series back in 1984.
A press conference to announce the hiring will be Tuesday.
