Fistfight leads to gunplay in Metairie, 2 teens in critical condition

Updated:

New Orleans, La. --  Two 16-year-old boys are in critical condition after a fistfight over marijuana escalated into gunfire.

Jefferson Parish deputies say the boys began arguing Monday night at the victim's home in the 2200 block of Guiffrais Avenue in Metairie.

Around 10:30 Tuesday morning, detectives say, Dondrell Cage, Jr. shot the victim several times. The victim's relative struggled with Cage over the gun, and cage was shot in the side.  He's also suffering from massive head trauma from the fistfight.

Deputies say Cage attended Lake Area High School in New Orleans.

"Dondrell Cage faces numerous charges  for Attempted Second Degree Murder, Resisting arrest, Battery on a Police Officer, and Illegal Possession of a Stolen Firearm," reads a statement from JPSO received Tuesday afternoon.
