Pelicans will acquire Evans in a three-team trade

Free agent guard Tyreke Evans is on his way to the Pelicans, but it is reportedly a sign-and-trade package.

Evans, the 6-feet-6 guard, late of the Sacramento Kings, had already agreed to a free agent offer from the Pelicans: four years at $48 million, plus incentives. But the Kings have decided to re-sign Evans as part of a three-team deal.

The trade would bring Evans to New Orleans, send guard Greivis Vasquez to Sacramento and center Robin Lopez to Portland. The Trailblazers are reportedly giving up cash and draft picks.

We do know the Pelicans would have had to release Lopez by Friday for $500,000, or guarantee the next two years of his deal for $5 million.

By NBA rules, the deal can't be done until July 10.

There are still a lot of moving parts here. We'll keep you posted.

The Pelicans got some league-wide recognition Wednesday as Anthony Davis and Jrue Holiday were named to the All-Defensive First Team, a first for both players. Davis has been second team twice before. This season, he averaged 2.6 blocks and 1.5 steals per game. Holiday had the same steals mark and led New Orleans to a 103.2 defensive rating during his time on the floor, nine points better than when he was off the floor.
