Heavy rains moving in; flash flood watch in effect

New Orleans, La. - The tropical moisture plume/surface trough, which has been dropping heavy amounts of rainfall, has begun to settle over SE Louisiana and Southern Mississippi.

More showers and storms expected today and through the weekend.

The National Weather Service has issued a Flash Flood Watch for most of the area until Sunday morning. Forecasts call for 2-4 inches of rain and locally heavier in some spots.

Tropical development of the surface trough is not expected, but a lot of rainfall is still anticipated.

As if there was any doubt who our No. 1 player on the countdown would be. Drew Brees may be 39, but he's still the straw that stirs the drink for the New Orleans Saints. The best to ever don the Black and Gold, signed a two-year contract this offseason with the club. Extending his career just a couple of more seasons. 2018 could be historic year for Brees.
