FOX 8 received this news release from the Thibodaux Police Dept. Saturday afternoon:

Thibodaux Chief of Police Scott Silverii announced the arrest of Arty Marcel (W/M, 49, 20xx Bull Run Road in Schriever) for Simple Battery and Theft of Goods after he punched the employees of a grocery store in the 200 Block of North Canal Boulevard after they witnessed him concealing steaks in his pants.

Tuesday, July 2nd, around 5:36 p.m. Marcel was seen by Asset Protection personnel trying to leave the store with the stolen steaks. When employees stopped Marcel and told him he needed to return the items, Marcel began hitting the employee repeatedly. Other store personnel were able to help subdue Marcel until Police arrived.

Arty Marcel was placed under arrest, and transported to the Lafourche Parish Detention Center for booking. He was later released on Summons.
