New Orleans, La. - Two Tulane University professors received a $1 million grant to create more effective and cost efficient oil dispersants.

The BP-Gulf of Mexico research initiative announced the grant for professors Scott Grayson and Wayne Reed on Wednesday.

Grayson and Reed want to develop dispersants that have less impact on the environment and public health.

The Government Accountability Project says cleanup workers and others reported health problems following the use of Corexit after the BP oil spill in 2010.

The University of Southern Mississippi is also involved in the study.
