Lakeside Mall coworkers claim July 6 Powerball prize

New Orleans, La. - A New Orleans woman claimed a $1 million Powerball prize from the July 6 drawing on behalf of BCT, a self-named group of coworkers from Macy's at Lakeside Shopping Center in Metairie.

Bobby Reaux purchased the Quick Pick ticket that matched all five white-ball numbers but missed the Powerball number. Reaux explained that the group name is comprised of the first initial of each member of the group, which also includes Chris Smith and Patricia Morvant. Morvant said the group has been playing Powerball together for the last two years.

Reaux said each group member will receive a little over $233,000 after federal and state tax withholdings. Reaux said she would spend her winnings on a new house she recently purchased. Smith said he plans to help his family, and Morvant said she will help her children as well as extend her previously planned stay at the Beau Rivage this week.

Reaux purchased the winning ticket at Spur Discount Corner in New Orleans. The store will receive a selling bonus of $10,000, which is 1 percent of the prize.
