Large crowd expected for Terrebonne flood map meeting

Updated:

Houma, La. - Terrebonne parish leaders expect many home and business owners will attend an upcoming public meeting regarding changes to the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP).

The meeting was originally scheduled to be held on Thursday, July 18th, but it has been rescheduled for Tuesday, July 23rd. Concerned citizens should gather at the Terrebonne Parish Library (Main Branch) at 151 Library Drive in Houma. The meeting will begin at 6 p.m.

Parish leaders released a statement explaining they plan to inform residents of the potential changes to flood insurance policies, as a result of the Biggert Waters Flood Insurance Reform Act of 2012. Similar meetings in other parishes recently attracted overflow crowds.
