Section of Freret Street closed through mid-August

Updated:

FOX 8 received the following news release Thursday from the N.O. Sewerage and Water Board:

The 5100 Block of Freret Street will be closed to vehicular traffic from July 16th through August 16th while Fleming Construction Company working for the Sewerage and Water Board replaces a water main that serves the area.  The east bound lane only will re-open daily after 5:30 p.m.

This project is part of the Board's FEMA funded Water Line Replacement Program.

The timing of this project has been scheduled so as to coordinate with the City of New Orleans Paths to Progress Program to pave the street.

This timing will eliminate the need to re-excavate the area after it has been paved by the Paths to Progress Program.

Work is scheduled to begin at 7 a.m. daily.
