BOSSIER CITY, La. (AP) - A Springhill woman is facing a charge of cruelty to animals after police say she left a puppy in a car for more than hour while shopping.
The Times reports that Bossier City police were called to Pierre Bossier Mall recently where a concerned citizen had reported hearing a puppy yelp from inside a vehicle as she walked through the parking lot.
While officers were on scene, the car's owner came outside. Officers say 21-year-old Shelby Pickard had left the puppy in the car while she went inside the mall to shop and eat.
Police say the puppy had been in the car for at least an hour with no food or water.
Animal control officials picked up the puppy, and they now says he is doing well.
