Slain 6-year-old laid to rest

Gonzales, La. - Family, friends and a community gathered Monday for a memorial and funeral for a little 6-year-old Harvey girl found murdered last week and left in a trash bin.

Funeral services for Ahlittia North began Monday morning in Gonzales at the Christian Assembly Church.

She was laid to rest in Donaldsonville.

Last weekend, authorities desperately searched for the little girl after she was reported missing from her parent's home Saturday morning.

Her body was discovered in a trash can early Tuesday. She'd been stabbed to death. By Tuesday night, deputies arrested the main suspect, 20-year-old Matthew Flugence, and charged him with first degree murder.

Matthew Flugence's brother was also arrested and charged with Obstruction of Justice.
