Saints wrap up first day of practice; fans show up in droves

Metairie, La. - Excited fans showed up in full force Friday morning to watch the black and gold take to the practice field.

The Saints practiced for about two hours, then Coach Sean Payton and quarterback Drew Brees addressed the media.

The team practiced without pads.

The team will hold open practices until August 1st.

Gates open for 8am and practice starts at 8:50am.

Inclement weather can move practice sessions indoor which will then be closed to the public.

Saints training camp practices on Friday, August 2 and Monday, August 5 will now be closed to the public due to a change in the football operations schedule. Fans will be able to attend 16 workouts over a 22-day period.

Players were also excited Friday as some took to Twitter.

"Great first practice! Feeling blessed to be apart of this team and back working harder than ever, tweeted Jimmy Graham.

"Now camp is part of the foundation for a great season... Practice one down. The WhoDat Nation was deep in support...gotta love it," tweeted Cam Jordan.

All four pre-season games will be shown on FOX 8.
