Metairie, La. - He came to the Saints via fifth round pick out of Oklahoma and for wide receiver Kenny Stills, it hasn't taken long to pick up on the professional life.
"It benefits me just that we had that same type of offense at Oklahoma and being around football for a long time," said Stills. "Knowing the schemes and being able to grasp them very quickly has helped me."
"He's a quick study," said head coach Sean Payton. "You never really know that. We get test scores and you try to measure intelligence but often times intelligence on the football field can be much different than a test score or how a player does with his grade point average."
Stills is in the middle of one of the best position battles of training camp for the team's third wide receiver and has held his own. He along with Nick Toon, Andy Tanner and Joe Morgan are likely competing for two or maybe three roster spots. All of them have gotten first team reps at some point and Stills knows he must rise to the occasion.
"We know it's a competition," Stills, who sports one of the more unique hairstyles on the team, said. "And we know we have to come out here and make every play that we can."
Bill Broussard is also a heart transplant recipient.
