Police arrest suspect in 8th Ward killing

FOX 8 received this news release from NOPD Thursday night:

Today Members of the NOPD's Violent Offender Warrant Squad arrested 31-year-old Nytilex "Lex" Jones at a residence in the 2600 block of North Villere Street, for fatally wounding 38-year-old Samuel Kelley. Officers found Kelley shot multiple times at the intersection of North Derbigny and Mandeville Street, Saturday July 27, 2013, around 4:45pm.

Detective Justine Rice was able to develop Jones as a Suspect through citizen involvement.  Jones was booked into Central Lockup and charged with One Count of Second Degree Murder.

Jones has been previously arrested for Attempted 1st Degree Murder(2008) Aggravated Assault, Aggravated Battery, Possession of Crack Possession, of Marijuana 1st, 2nd and 3rd Offense, Extortion, Simple Battery, Domestic Simple Battery, Misrep of Name, Bringing Contraband into jail, Unauthorized Use of a Moveable, Criminal Trespass, Lewd Conduct, Reckless Operation, Driving on a Suspended Driver's License.

    William Huff terrorized Sierra Vista during the spring and summer of 1967. Despite a sentence of 40 years to life, the Arizona Board of Executive Clemency voted to release him from prison into home arrest. Family members of the victims are concerned for the safety of the community, as are new members of the Clemency Board. CBS 5 Investigates videotaped Huff riding a bike through his Tucson neighborhood. There are no restrictions placed on his proximity to children.
