3-alarm fire in Old Jefferson

Jefferson, La. - A three-alarm fire heavily damaged three businesses in Old Jefferson Monday morning.

The fire started just after 11am in the 2300 block of Jefferson Highway near Labarre Road. Flames and smoke damaged a pawn shop, dry cleaners, and laundromat.

One fireman was injured while battling the blaze. He fell from a balcony after the railing gave way. He fell about ten feet. The extent of his injuries is unknown.

Jefferson Highway is closed westbound between Deckbar and Causeway.
