Arrest made in slaying of Metairie neighborhood watch captain

FOX 8 received this news release from the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office Monday night:

Sheriff Newell Normand announces the arrest of ROBERT KYLE, W/M, 78, of 89xx 25th Street in Metairie.

You may recall, on May 8, 2013, Jerrel Oster, W/F, 39, of 60xx Jean Street in Metairie was found shot to death in her home at 60xx Jean Street. Homicide Detective Sergeant Eddie Klein along with Detective Travis Eserman conducted a follow-up investigation into Oster's death. Investigators believe Robert Kyle was responsible for shooting Ms. Oster. As a result, on August 2, 2013, Detective Eserman issued an arrest warrant for Kyle charging him with one count of Second Degree Murder.

On August 5, 2013, around 6:00 PM, Robert Kyle surrendered himself to Sergeant Klein and Detective Travis Eserman at the JPCC. Kyle was booked with one count of Second Degree Murder warrant.
