New Orleans, La. - The NOPD is searching for a teenager wanted in connection with two carjackings in the Marigny and Bywater over the weekend.
Police have identified 18 year-old Derrin Riley as one of four people that are wanted for both incidents.
The carjackings took place Saturday night and early Sunday morning, August 3-4; one in the 800 block of Clouet Street and the other in the 400 block of Marigny Street.
In the Marigny Street incident, the suspects held up two women and a three year-old child and directed them to put all of their property in their vehicle and then drove off in their white Jeep Compass.
The women say the two African-American males approached them around 8:30 p.m. as they were just getting back to their Jeep, which they'd parked in the 400 block of Marigny Street.
One of the women was inside the vehicle with the toddler while the driver loaded up the car with their belongings. One of the men pointed a gun at the driver and demanded she give up her watch and her vehicle. The other suspect approached the woman on the passenger side, and demanded that she also give up her watch and get out of the vehicle. Both women's purses and other belongings were also inside of the vehicle.
The victims pleaded with the men that they let them take the little girl out of the Jeep, and they complied. The men then drove off.
Around 2:30 Sunday morning, the second carjacking took place in the 800 block of Clouet Street where the victim was robbed and carjacked. Derrin Riley has also been identified as one of the suspects in this case.
Both vehicles that were stolen have been located and are being processed for evidence.
