Orleans Parish Sheriff's Office Orleans Parish Sheriff's Office

New Orleans, La. - A mother bonded out of jail late Thursday night after New Orleans police say she deserted her infant in a Gentilly parking lot earlier this week.

Jasmine Jones, 26, was released on her own recognizance. Police arrested Jones and the child's father Leonard Martin, 23, Tuesday.

Both are booked with cruelty to a juvenile. Police say Jones and Martin left their daughter in a parking lot at the B Express gas station Tuesday and drove off in separate cars.

Jones is expected back in court in October.
