PASCAGOULA, Miss. (AP) - Pascagoula Police say a man accused of stabbing his estranged wife told arresting officers the devil made him do it.
Sgt. Calvin Hudgins says 27-year-old Darold Payne, of Pascagoula, was booked on an aggravated domestic assault charge Friday after police responded to a complaint of a stabbing at an apartment complex.
The Sun Herald reports that police found a 26-year-old woman standing in the parking lot with apparent stab wounds to her stomach, back and chest. Hudgins says the woman was hospitalized at Singing River Hospital with wounds that were not believed to be life-threatening.
Hudgins says officers found Payne inside an apartment and he blamed the stabbing on the devil.
