Helicopter crash in Gulf of Mexico; 3 onboard rescued

Terrebonne, La. - Three people on board a helicopter that crashed into the Gulf of Mexico Monday afternoon were rescued safely, according to the Coast Guard.

The crash happened around 1pm about 30 miles southwest of Terrebonne Bay.

An oil rig, the Trinity V, reported the incident to the Coast Guard at 1:06pm.

The three people on board the chopper was rescued by a nearby offshore supply vessel.

The Coast Guard said no injuries were reported.

The helicopter is owned by Panther Helicopters. The area of the Gulf where the crash happened is known as 'Ship Shoal 208.'
