New Orleans, La. - New Orleans police issued an arrest warrant Saturday for a man they say is wanted for a kidnapping and battery that was captured by hotel security cameras.

The suspect, 35-year-old Elvin Terrell, faces charges of domestic battery, simple kidnapping and cruelty to a juvenile.

The incident took place Friday at about 4:50 a.m. at a hotel in the 300 block of Loyola Avenue.

Detectives learned that an argument between a man and a woman began inside the hotel lobby and became physical. Surveillance footage shows the man beating the woman and then putting her into a car. Another woman seen in the video appears to be with the couple.

Through further investigation, detectives found a 6-year-old boy inside a room that was rented by one of the people involved in the incident. Detectives have made contact with a woman claiming to be the child's mother, but she is not cooperating with police.

The child was not injured and is in protective custody.

The incident remains under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to call Crimestoppers at (504) 822-1111. Callers may remain anonymous and could be eligible for a cash reward for information that leads to an arrest and indictment.
