Guilty plea by officer in 2012 drug raid death

NEW ORLEANS (AP) - A New Orleans police officer pleaded guilty to manslaughter and has been sentenced to four years in prison in connection with a drug raid that ended in the death of a 20-year-old unarmed man.

The plea from Officer Joshua Colclaugh was accepted Friday in New Orleans criminal court. Colclough was led from the courtroom in handcuffs to begin serving his sentence immediately.

Colclough was charged in the shooting of Wendell Allen during a drug raid in March 2012. Police were at Allen's home in New Orleans' Gentilly neighborhood, executing a search warrant in a marijuana investigation.

Allen was unarmed when he was shot in the chest.
