2 firearms stolen from Hammond Police unit

KENTWOOD, La. (AP) - The Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff's Office says two guns were stolen from a Hammond Police Department vehicle.

The police unit, a 2010 Chevrolet Tahoe, was burglarized on La. 1054 in Kentwood. Dawn Panepinto, a spokeswoman for the sheriff's office, says the thieves took the weapons from the vehicle sometime between 10 p.m. Thursday and 6:30 a.m. Friday.

The missing guns are a black Glock model .22, with a Hammond Police Department badge insignia etched into the top of the slide, and a black Remington 870 Police Magnum pump shotgun with a 14-inch barrel.
