Gunfire in Marrero leaves one woman dead


New Orleans -- Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Department Homicide Detectives are investigating a shooting that left woman dead. The incident occurred Saturday around 9:24 p.m. in the 1000 block of Robinson Avenue in Marrero. The victim has been identified as 19-year-old Miquisha Nash of New Orleans. 

Police says that responding officers arrived on scene to find Nash sitting in the passenger seat of a car, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. She was transported to a local hospital where she was pronounced dead shortly after arrival. 

Investigators learned that Nash traveling in the car in the 5400 block of Westbank Expressway, with her friend, when a van pulled along side of them and began firing. When the friend became aware of the gunfire, he put the car in reverse and sped away from the van, before stopping on Robinson Avenue to wait for police and EMS.
