Single-vehicle crash claims the life of a Belle Chasse woman

New Orleans -- Troopers with Louisiana State Police Troop B are investigating a car crash that killed a Belle Chasse woman and injured two others. The accident occurred Sunday, around 2:30 a.m. on Hwy 23. The deceased victim has been identified as 43-year-old Wynette L. Williamson.

Police say that 21-year-old Jeremy Williamson of Belle Chasse was driving a car on Hwy 23 north with Wynette Williamson and 23-year-old James Brown Jr. as passengers. As Jeremy approached Hwy 11, the car traveled off of the road for unknown reasons and began to overturn. All of the car's occupants were ejected. Wynette Williams was pronounced dead on the scene. Jeremy Williamson and Brown were transported to a local hospital with moderate injuries.

Investigators believe that speed and impairment could be factors in the crash. A toxicology test will be performed on blood taken from Jeremy Williamson at the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab. The investigation into the crash continues and charges are pending.
