Two car crash kills one, injures three others in St. James Parish


New Orleans --  Louisiana State Police Troop C Troopers are investigating a two-car accident that claimed the life of a St. James man and injured three others. The accident occurred Sunday, just before 6:00 p.m. on Hwy 18 in St. James Parish. The deceased victim has been identified as 52-year-old Antonio Harrison. 

Police say that Julio Cuxum of Baton Rouge was driving an SUV south on Hwy 18 when he entered the northbound lane and struck a car head-on. Harrison, who was the driver of the car was not wearing his seat belt and was pronounced dead on the scene. Two passengers in Harrison's vehicle were also not wearing seat belts were transported to area hospitals with serious injuries. Cuxum, who was wearing his seat belt, was transported to an area hospital with serious injuries. 

Investigators suspect that Cuxum was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash. Cuxum's blood was drawn and will be analyzed at the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab. Results from a routine toxicology test that was performed on Harrison, are pending. Troopers continue to investigate the crash.
