Former Plaquemines sheriff seeks prison delay

Former Plaquemines Parish Sheriff Jiff Hingle wants a delay on serving a four-year prison sentence.

Monday, Hingle's attorney asked a federal judge for a one month extension including assigning Hingle to a prison closer to his family in Louisiana.

He is scheduled to report to a South Carolina prison September 16th.

Hingle pleaded guilty to federal corruption charges for accepting kickbacks and illegally spending campaign money.
