Houma, La.- Suspicious store clerks helped Houma Police make a drug arrest.

Convenience store workers, alarmed by a man's behavior called Houma Police because they were afraid he would get back in his car and drive.

Investigators say the clerks said as they spoke to the man, they become convinced he was under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

Officers arriving on the scene who spoke with Cameron S. Chauvin agreed with that assessment. And when Houma Police K-9 got a whiff of the suspect's car, he alerted them to the possibility of narcotics inside. Investigators say a search of the car turned up suspected heroin and marijuana as well as a hypodermic needle and other drug paraphernalia.

Chauvin, 21, was arrested and booked with disturbing the peace, possession of heroin and marijuana and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.
