Pelicans auditioning for kids hip-hop team

The Pelicans need some kids with just the right moves.

Players got to strut down the runway like fashion models a few weeks ago when they showed off new uniforms.  Now, the Pelicans need boys and girls between the ages of 7 and 12.

FOX 8 received this media advisory from the Pelicans organization Friday afternoon:

WHAT: 2013-14 Pelicans Kids Hip-Hop Dance Team Auditions

WHERE: Alario Center, 2000 Segnette Blvd., Westwego

WHEN: Saturday, August 24

Registration begins at 9:00 a.m.

Auditions begin promptly at 10:00 a.m.

The New Orleans Pelicans will hold auditions for the 2013-14 Pelicans Kids Hip-Hop Dance Team on Saturday, Aug. 24 at the Alario Center (2000 Segnette Blvd., Westwego). Registration begins at 9:00 a.m. and auditions begin promptly at 10:00 a.m. The Pelicans are looking for boys and girls between the ages of 7-12 who are energetic, have previous dance experience and want to be a part of the exciting hip-hop team that performs at select home games.

The Kids Dance Team performs choreographed hip-hop dance routines at select Pelicans home games as well as performs at community appearances throughout the season. Applicants should bring personality, energy, showmanship and confidence to the auditions.

Parents must complete an application form, submit a recent headshot or photo of their child and bring a copy of the child's birth certificate. Release forms must be signed by a parent at registration. While there are no specific guidelines for attire, applicants should be dressed in comfortable athletic gear. Only one parent/guardian per child will be permitted to stay for the audition.
