One arrested in marijuana bust in Old Jefferson

Jefferson, La. - Jefferson Parish Sheriff Newell Normand said his deputies arrested 62 year old Josh Washington of Jefferson after getting a tip that he was growing and selling marijuana.

When officers responded to the call, they say they noticed a marijuana plant growing in a pot in the front shrubbery. Washington answered the door and allowed officers to check out his home.

As a result of the search, a total of 38 marijuana plants in various stages of growth ranging in size from one foot to five feet tall were seized.  Deputies also located an additional 129 grams of marijuana in various containers throughout house. A

Deputies say they also located drug paraphernalia used for the cultivation, distribution and use of narcotics.  

Deputies say they also seized a grow light, plant food, digital scales and smoking devices.

Washington was booked Tuesday with one Count of Possession with the intent to Distribute Marijuana, one count of Possession of Drug Paraphernalia along with one count of Cultivation of Marijuana.
