FOX 8 received this news release from the New Orleans Police Dept. Wednesday evening:

Last night Members of the NOPD's Homicide Division arrested 23-year-old Dentri Lee at a local medical facility at the intersection of Delachaise and Coliseum Street, for fatally wounding 22-year-old Billy McCormick. Officers found McCormick shot once at the intersection of Felicity and Tchoupitoulas Street, yesterday around 7:00pm.

Detective Andrew Waldron was able to develop Lee as a Suspect through citizen involvement and physical evidence collected on the scene. Lee was a passenger inside of a stolen Toyota Corolla reported out of Jefferson Parish. Lee and the Driver collided on side of McCormick's Gold Nissan Altima while simultaneously opening fire at him. McCormick was shot once and died on the scene. Lee later relocated to a local medical treatment facility after he himself was shot in the hand as a result of the incident. Detectives also recovered the stolen Corolla at the treatment facility. Detective Waldron had enough evidence to hold Lee on a probation violation last night. Lee was rebooked at Central Lockup today and charged with One Count of Second Degree Murder.

The unidentified driver of the stolen Corolla remains at large. Detective Waldron is still actively investigating this case.

Lee has been previously arrested for Possession of Heroin, Theft, Driving on a Suspended Driver's license and he is currently on Probation until May 2018 for Possession of Heroin.
