NOPD releases images of persons of interest in murder of toddler

New Orleans, La. - The New Orleans Police Department has released surveillance images of two persons of interest wanted for questioning in the killing of a 1-year-old girl Thursday night.

The two people have not been identified.  It's not clear whether they are the suspects who police say were seen fleeing the area after the shooting.

The Orleans Parish Coroner's Office has identified the child as Londyn Samuels.

NOPD says the shooting happened around 8:20 Thursday evening in the 2800 block of S. Saratoga, near Washington.  Officers say the woman babysitting Samuels was walking with her when they were shot.  Both were rushed to a nearby hospital, where the toddler died.  The woman is expected to survive a gunshot wound to her back.

Police have no word yet on a motive in the case or whether the woman was the target of the shooting.
