Argument leads to fatal accident on I-10 in Slidell

New Orleans, La. - Troopers with Louisiana State Police Troop L are investigating a fatal accident that stemmed from a domestic argument. The accident occurred Monday, just after 8:30 p.m. on Interstate 10 eastbound near the Hwy 190/Fremaux Ave exit in Slidell. The victim has been identified as 25-year-old Lauren Gregor of Gautier, Mississippi.

According to police, Gregor was riding in the front passenger seat of a car heading east on I-10. The car was being driven by her husband, identified as 24-year-old Cody Rafter. The two began to argue and that's when Gregor grabbed the steering wheel and jerked it hard to the right causing the car to leave the roadway and overturn. Gregor, who was not wearing her seat belt, was ejected from the vehicle and eventually became trapped underneath the car when it came to rest.

Gregor was transported to Ochsner Northshore Medical Center where she was pronounced dead. Rafter, who was wearing his seat belt at the time of the crash, only received minor injuries. Toxicology analysis is pending but impairment is not suspected at this time.
