New Orleans, La. - People overseeing plans to overhaul the Six Flags site in New Orleans East want out of a deal with one developer.

According to our partners at New Orleans CityBusines, the city's Industrial Development Board will likely begin negotiations soon to terminate its agreement with Provident-DAG.

The board reached an agreement months ago for the developer to transform the site into retail and entertainment destination. The developer says that plan is no longer feasible because of similar plans to overhaul the Riverwalk Marketplace.

The Industrial Development Board wants out of its current agreement with Provident-DAG because its current contract does not permit a use for the site other than retail.

There's no timetable in place to put out a new call for other developers to pitch ideas to overhaul the site.
