Baton Rouge, La. - Congratulations to Southern University, which has broken ground on a new baseball facility in Baton Rouge.
Mayor Kip Holden and several university officials broke ground on the $1 million complex, which will be located adjacent to Lee Hines field. It will be feature a state of the art clubhouse complex, batting cages and offices.
Athletic Director Dr. William Broussard called the groundbreaking monumental.
"This is a project that is not only a testament to our commitment to their success, but will help this baseball program moving forward, in terms of recruitment, and also help the university in terms of showing that the university can build facilities like this to better recruit students," Broussard said.
