There is so much to look forward to in the Saints' season-opening game with Atlanta Sunday.
There's the rivalry itself, and he almost 100-percent assurance the game will come down to the wire - 10 of the last 12 meetings were won by eight points or less, two in overtime. And then, there is the match-up of two of the game's elite quarterbacks.
You already know Drew Brees' credentials. But, Matt Ryan isn't bad, not by a long shot. 56 wins are the most by any quarterback in his first five seasons played in the league. He's engineered 22 game winning drives in the 4th quarter or overtime. That's the most by any NFL quarterback over his first 5 years since 1966.
Ryan's exploits have not gone unnoticed by Brees, who said, "I've got a ton of respect for Matt Ryan. First of all, he's a winner. He's going into his sixth year now. He's led his team to the playoffs four of the last five seasons. He's played extremely well both in the regular season and the post season. Obviously, he's got great command of that offense. He's a great decision maker. He comes across as one of these highly competitive guys that has a great work ethic. Loves football. Tough. All the things you want in a quarterback."
