Saints fans hold pep rally ahead of Sunday's game

Updated:

New Orleans- On the day before the Saints showdown with Atlanta in the Superdome, hundreds of fans gathered Uptown for a pep rally and parade to welcome back Coach Sean Payton. While some wore Saints jerseys, others were decked out in Payton T-shirts.

"We're very excited to have Payton back and we're ready to go," said fan Chelsea John.

Ready fans say, to take on the Atlanta Falcons, the Saints' biggest rival.

As the group marched through the streets to City Hall, fans told us their predictions for tomorrow's game. "We're gonna cream them," exclaimed one young fan.

"I've never seen a city with so much team spirit, it's really awesome. I think because of that, they're going to win," said Rebecca Perez.

In Mid-City, another group of Saints supporters gathered at a tailgate party, where the excitement in the air was palpable. "There's like a euphoria going on right now," said Gina Magee.

Sarah Wambsgann added, "Super, super excited. I cannot wait. It's just, I've been counting the days."

To so many of these fans, the Saints are much more than just a football team. "They mean everything like the rebirth of the city. We were nothing to something so I mean that to me is what this city is about, rebirth. This is the Saints, that's us," said Magee.

While some are lucky enough to be going to the dome Sunday to see the action in person, others say they'll spend game day with family and friends, cheering on their favorite team. And they're already looking ahead, hoping that this season will bring the team back to the biggest game of the year. "Everything is going to be awesome this year, we're going back to the Super Bowl this year," said Rondell Jones.
