UPDATE: Arrest made in Slidell homicide

UPDATE: Slidell Police have arrested 20 year-old Felix Adams Jr.

Slidell Police received a Crimestoppers tip that Adams was still in the Slidell area. the caller gave a description of the vehicle that Adams was driving.  Around 11:30pm Sunday, an spotted Adams' vehicle driving on Front Street.  Adams was pulled over and taken into custody without incident.

The investigation is still ongoing, and more arrests are expected.


Slidell, La. - Slidell Police are looking for a suspect in connection with the death of a man who whose body was discovered Saturday at about 5 p.m.

The body of 23-year-old Leighton Powe Jr. was found lying in a ditch on Javery Road.

At about the same time the body was discovered, Powe's girlfriend, whose name is not being released, reported Powe missing to the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff's Office. As deputies there began their investigation, it was discovered that Powe was shot inside Slidell city limits.

The St. Tammany Parish Sheriff's Office then contacted the Slidell Police Department, and the two began a joint investigation.

Investigators have developed Felix Adams Jr., 20, as a suspect. Currently, Adams has an active warrant for first-degree murder and is considered armed and dangerous.
