Man wanted in 2010 murder surrenders to Terrebonne Sheriff

Houma, La. - A man wanted in connection with the 2010 killing of his girlfriend surrendered to police Sunday, according to Terrebonne Parish Sheriff Jerry Larpenter.

Corey Claudell Galmore reported to the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff's Office at 9:15 a.m. He was booked with second-degree murder and taken to the Terrebonne Parish Jail, where he remains on a $400,000.00 bond.

Galmore is accused of killing 26-year-old Merell Stewart in February 2010. Stewart's body was discovered just outside Houma along Highway 90 after her family reported her missing when she didn't show up for her son's first birthday party.

Galmore will be arraigned on the second-degree murder charge Oct. 28.
