New Orleans, La. – Pedicabs will keep whisking visitors and locals around downtown and the French Quarter.

The New Orleans City Council voted to extend the pedicab pilot program through the end of the year.

The program, which was originally scheduled to end September 15, was designed to give the foot-powered transportation a trial run. During the pilot program, 45 permitted pedicabs are allowed to operate.

Council members indicate they're encouraged by the success and growing popularity of the pedicabs operating now.
