LSU rolls past Kent State, 45-13

New Orleans -- LSU used a more dominant run game and another strong outing from quarterback Zach Mettenberger to beat Kent State 45-13 in Tiger Stadium Saturday night.

Mettenberger threw for 264 yards and three touchdowns, while completing 13-of-18 attempts. The Tigers gained a season-high 569 total yards (305 rushing) and scored on their first five possessions for the first time since 2006. LSU led 31-10 at the half.

Lutcher native Jarvis Landry hauled in four receptions for 66 yards and the two touchdowns, while New Orleans native Odell Beckham Jr. added five catches for 76 yards and a score.

Running back Jeremy Hill started the game for the first time this season and tallied 117 yards and two scores. Hill's 58-yard TD run began the offensive onslaught for the Tigers. Terrence Magee also added a late touchdown on the ground and produced 108 yards.

Defensively, LSU held Kent State to 248 total yards, with the Golden Flashes converting just four of 14 third-downs.

LSU (3-0) begins SEC play next Saturday night in Baton Rouge hosting Auburn.
