Five year-old shot in leg, side in New Orleans East

 

New Orleans -- A five-year-old was shot in the leg and side in New Orleans East. The incident occurred Sunday just before 8:00 p.m. in the 4700 block of Sherwood Drive.
 
According to the NOPD, the parents of the child were arguing. The father, who was intoxicated, began firing his gun at his wife. The bullets missed the wife, but went through the wall striking the child in the leg and side. 
 
The child was transported to a local hospital by his mother and a police escort. The child had surgery and is listed in stable condition.
 
The father will be charged with attempted murder.
