Houma, La. - A 34-year-old man from Houma has been arrested and charged with murder after his friend died from an apparent heroin overdose. Jason Parfait called Houma Police to his home in the 200 block of Cenac Street after finding his friend dead in the living room.

The incident happened last Friday night on September 13th. Parfait told officers who arrived at his home around 11 pm that he found his 27-year-old friend dead after returning home from running some errands.

During the investigation, Houma Police detectives developed information that the man who died was suspected of being a heroin addict. Houma Police detectives also learned that the victim would frequently use heroin with Jason Parfait at his home.

Houma Police detectives developed information through interviews that Mr. Parfait injected the victim with two doses of heroin prior to leaving his home on September 13th. Mr. Parfait was interviewed and detectives say his account of what transpired was consistent with witnesses.

Houma Police detectives then obtained an arrest warrant for Jason Parfait on charges of Second Degree Murder. He was then picked up and brought to the Terrebonne Parish jail for booking on the murder charge.
