NOPD officer to be suspended after video of fight surfaces

New Orleans, La. - An NOPD officer will be suspended without pay after disturbing video of a street fight gets posted on YouTube.

The video shows Officer Cortez Hankton standing by as two women beat each other up.

Hankton's attorney confirms to FOX 8 that the NOPD's Public Integrity Bureau is investigating.

Police Chief Ronal Serpas will discuss the matter Wednesday afternoon.
The two minute video was taken on September 8th on Canal Street.
It starts with officers restraining one man, but shows no effort on the officers part to break up the fight between the women.
At one point, another man steps in and throws a couple of punches himself, hitting both women. It's not until female officers arrive on scene that the women are separated.
We'll have more on this breaking news story on FOX 8 news at 4 and 5 pm.
