Ray Nagin seeks indefinite trial delay

New Orleans, La. - Attorneys for former Mayor Ray Nagin are seeking an indefinite trial delay, according to documents filed in federal court Thursday.

Attorneys want the continuance as the Department of Justice investigates misconduct at the U.S. Attorney's Office.

Earlier this week, district court Judge Kurt Englhardt threw out the convictions for five former NOPD officers.

This after what he called "grotesque misconduct" by federal prosecutors.

The officers face charges in connection with the killing of two people on the Danziger Bridge after hurricane Katrina.

Nagin's trial is scheduled for October 28th.
