Authorities: Bank robber arrested after returning to crime scene


New Orleans, La. – New Orleans police arrested a wanted bank robber when he attempted to rob the same bank twice.

Dwayne Eugene Hupp attempted to rob the Crescent Bank & Trust in the Central Business District Thursday morning, but was recognized by the bank's security and stopped as he attempted a second robbery.

According to the FBI, Hupp confessed to robbing the Crescent Bank & Trust on Sept. 4 as well as the Gentilly Boulevard branch of Liberty Bank & Trust on Aug. 6 and Sept. 10.

Hupp was booked into the federal tier of the St. Bernard Parish Prison and will make his first appearance in court on Sept. 20.
