New Orleans, La. - A brazen armed robbery happened Tuesday night in an Uptown neighborhood where several Tulane students live and often walk to and from campus.

Police say around 11:40 p.m., the victim was walking down Freret Street when he noticed a white, two-door Trans Am with red stripes from its hood to the trunk, parked on the corner of Lowerline and Freret. The victim told police there were three African American men inside of the vehicle.

The victim continued walking down Freret. Police say, when he walked through the 7400 block of Freret, the Trans Am pulled up and stopped in the middle of the street. They say the front passenger jumped out and pointed a gun at the victim, demanding his belongings.

The victim handed over a laptop and several bags. Investigators say the perpetrator got back into the car and the trio sped off down Freret.

NOPD has released surveillance video showing the Trans Am believed to be the one used in the armed robbery.
