FOX 8 received this news release from the New Orleans Mayor's Office Thursday evening:
The City of New Orleans announced that the traffic configuration has shifted at the intersection of Dublin and Dixon streets, near the site of the new Costco Wholesale retail warehouse on South Carrollton Avenue. The new traffic signals at this intersection are now functional.
Citizens should be mindful of the altered traffic conditions and use caution when driving, bicycling, or walking near the site.
The infrastructure improvement projects on South Carrollton Avenue are funded with Disaster-Community Development Block Grant (D-CDBG) funds. The combined value of the infrastructure improvements projects is approximately $5.5 million. The scope of work includes replacing existing drainage, replacing sidewalks and driveway aprons, installing new Americans with Disabilities Act-compliant curb ramps, new flashing beacons, a new left turn lane onto Palmetto Street, new traffic signal at Dublin Street and Dixon Street intersection and re-paving asphalt roadways. The construction contracts were awarded to Fleming Construction and Roubion Construction.
The Costco will open to the public on Saturday, September 21, 2013.
